Virtual Pipeline™ Conversion for Asphalt Production Facility

Brick Wall Corp. | Forked River, NJ | Asphalt Production

XNG delivered a mobile CNG energy solution for Brick Wall Corp., reducing emissions and fuel costs while replacing #2 heating oil at a non-pipeline asphalt plant.

The Problem

Brick Wall Corp., a large asphalt producer in Forked River, NJ, relied heavily on #2 heating oil —an expensive, high-emissions fuel prone to price volatility and regulatory pressure. With no access to pipeline gas, the company faced challenges transitioning to cleaner energy without disrupting production. With concerns about fuel reliability and delivery logistics, the company sought a dependable, cost-effective energy alternative that supported smooth operations and long-term modernization.

The Solution

XNG developed a tailored mobile CNG delivery system for Brick Wall’s plant, including onsite storage, decompression, and long-term supply support. The system delivers ~53,000 MMBtu/year via high-capacity CNG trailers, replacing all heating oil usage. Rise Energy Services facilitated the transition, acting as strategic advisor throughout the fuel switch. A 7-year fuel supply agreement ensured price stability and reliability. XNG’s Virtual Pipeline™ model allowed for off-pipeline delivery, no infrastructure build-out needed.

  • 53,000 MMBtu/year delivered to non-pipeline site
  • 7-year fuel supply agreement, ensuring long-term savings and stability
  • Onsite decompression and mobile storage system

The Results

Brick Wall achieved a 33-45% reduction in annual fuel costs and cut fuel-related carbon emissions by roughly 30%. Operational consistency was maintained, with XNG’s logistics and mobile storage ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply. The project aligned with Brick Wall’s sustainability goals, improved long-term cost predictability, and helped mitigate future regulatory risk. Today, Brick Wall operates confidently on CNG, supported by a strong partnership between XNG and Rise Energy Services.
